Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between errors and warnings?
Errors break an official rule: a receiver or their software may reject the invoice. Warnings come from rules marked as advice ("should"): the invoice is still valid, but it's worth fixing them. Our own extra checks are always shown as warnings, because they are not official rules.
My software says the invoice is valid. Why do you find errors?
Many programs only check that the file is readable XML, or only check some of the rules. We run the official schema and the full official rule sets (EN 16931 plus Peppol BIS or XRechnung where the file declares them), the same ones the official validators use. The rule versions are listed under the results.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The rules are downloaded to your browser and the check runs there. Your file never leaves your computer, and we don't store anything about it.
Which rules do you use?
We read which standard the file says it follows (its specification identifier, BT-24) and pick the matching official rules, like the official validators do. XRechnung files get the German rules, never Peppol's. You can change the choice under the drop zone.
