Check if a VAT number is valid and active

We check the number against VIES, the European Commission’s official service, which asks the country’s own tax database.

The number goes to our check and on to the EU’s VIES service, only to check it. It is never logged or put in the page address. A valid answer is kept for up to 24 hours under a scrambled key, so a repeat check is quick.
