Where do I find my Peppol ID?

In Belgium, your Peppol ID is your enterprise number with the scheme code 0208 in front of it, for example 0208:0123456749. Your Peppol service provider must register you under at least that number; a VAT version with code 9925 can be added voluntarily.

A Peppol ID is the number that identifies your business on the Peppol network. The official FAQ compares it to a phone number: anyone who knows your number can reach you.

How is a Belgian Peppol ID built?

A Peppol ID has two parts, separated by a colon:

  • The scheme code: four digits that say what kind of number follows. For the enterprise number from the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises, this is 0208.
  • The number itself: your enterprise number, without dots or spaces.

So the enterprise number 0123.456.749 becomes 0208:0123456749.

Why always the enterprise number?

In Belgium, the rule is that every business is registered with at least its enterprise number. Peppol service providers are contractually required to do this. This means you don’t need to ask your customers for their Peppol ID: your software can always deliver to the enterprise number.

Other IDs, such as the VAT number with code 9925 (for example 9925:BE0123456749), an IBAN or a GLN, can be added voluntarily if both parties agree.

How do I know if I’m already registered?

The ID always exists, but you can only receive e-invoices once you’re registered with a Peppol service provider. You can see whether that’s the case with our Peppol check. Not registered yet? Then read how to register on Peppol.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to ask my customers for their Peppol ID?
No. Because every Belgian business is registered under at least its enterprise number, your software can deliver to your customer's enterprise number. The official FAQ says the same.
My software asks for an "endpoint ID" or "electronic address". Is that the same thing?
Usually, yes. Software packages use different names for the same thing: Peppol ID, participant ID, endpoint ID or electronic address. Enter your enterprise number with the code 0208, unless your software asks for something else.
Can a business have more than one Peppol ID?
Yes. Besides the enterprise number, other numbers can be used too, such as the VAT number (code 9925), an IBAN or a GLN, if both parties agree.
Does having a Peppol ID mean I can receive e-invoices?
No. The ID is only the address. You can only receive once a Peppol service provider has registered you on the network, usually through your invoicing or accounting software.
